As a non-clinical perinatal professional, I come alongside you to provide various forms of support during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and other related reproductive experiences.
As a Paraclete Doula, I function as a navigator and advocate for expecting families as they engage with various clinical providers involved in their care, such as licensed midwives and obstetricians. I serve as a consistent point of contact and a trusted source of information in the communities I work with—an especially valuable role for populations that experience increased barriers to accessing clinical services.
I welcome the opportunity to align with members of the maternity care team, providing support and education on pregnancy throughout the continuum of care. I also offer culturally appropriate support to women at higher risk for poor outcomes during pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period.
I am well-suited to address issues related to discrimination and other drivers of disparities by deeply listening and bridging language and cultural gaps while serving as your health resource navigator. As a double minority, I know what it means to be systematically marginalized in institutions both inside and outside of health care. I recognize the importance of being both seen and heard during the most significant, yet vulnerable moments of your life.
